PHYSIOLOGICAL REACTION I

The machine expresses self-performance of its own, so that audience can understand more about the running logic of machine and feel the vitality of it. Physiological Responses, which consists of 600 cooling fans, reflects a motion matrix of machine its own. The installation weighs 200KG and has a peak power of 15000W. Routine mechanization is one of the clues of work. The increase in volume and components allow audience to face the amplifying mechanized synthetics. Those structure details inside the installation, including intelligent system, control system and various circuit system, will help audience understand more about the running logic of machine and feel the vitality of it. Not only does the work focuses on the visual experience, but it also pursues for theater effect. The sense of touch, the sound and interactive behaviors, all of them have involved into the performance area of work. Compared with my previous works, Physiological Responses has a very direct interactive mode. The installation reduces the systematization of artificial design, simplifies the regularity of interactive arts and expresses more about machine’s self-performance. Even though the work is still driven by intellectual technology, it has integrated its own unique algorithm into previous intelligence. That is to say, the machine can speak for itself to make its movement random. The emotion of Physiological Responses is actually the self performance of machine. The interaction between audience and work is no longer an intervention but an input state.
